Haiti or Bust!


This morning, Pastor Bryan had the opportunity to pray over our Haiti Mission Team as they prepared to leave Wilmington. We are proud of the commitment this team has made to serve the people of Haiti.

For the next 8 days, they will serve selflessly as they help rebuild homes and ministries affected by the earthquake.

Haiti Relief


THE NEED. Tuesday January 12, 2010, Haiti was hit by a devastating 7.0 earthquake. This earthquake is the largest disaster in the western hemisphere in 200 years! Most of Port-au-Prince (the capitol city of Haiti) was destroyed, and there has been tremendous loss of life and property throughout the entire country. This is yet another chance for the church to stand up and make a difference by leading the way in responding to the needs of these precious people. Find out below how you can help. LEVERAGING PARTNERSHIPS. We are joining forces with Healing Place Church, C3 Church, Lifepoint Church and others to serve the people of Haiti. WAYS TO GET INVOLVED. There are four main ways everyone can get involved to help Haiti. 01. PRAY We want to encourage everyone to pray for those affected, pray for those responding to the need, and pray about how God would have you get involved. Join us for a special night of Prayer For Haiti, this Monday, January 18th from 7:00-8:00pm at Lifepoint Church’s Midtown location. Lifepoint Midtown is located at 740 S College Rd # B directly behind McAllister’s Deli. You can find a map HERE. 02. STAY INFORMED Stay tuned to this site and to Pastor Bryan’s blog for updates. We also encourage you to support these two organizations. 03. GIVE We have set up our Disaster Relief Fund. You can donate online or mail in your donations. Please mail in donations to PO Box 10229, Wilmington, NC 28404 (Please Note: “Disaster Relief Fund” with your donation) You can also give directly to the reputable organizations listed above. You are welcome to donate any amount, below are a few items for guidance: $25 – provides food for a day $45 – provides a survival kit for a family $100 – provides temporary shelter $9000 – water filtration system provides water for 500 families 04. DONATE MEDICAL SUPPLIES We’ll be collecting items that are desperately needed. Drop-off location: Collecting from 9am – 5pm Tuesday – Thursday and during all of our weekend services. Wilmington (ROCK Church, 5301 Sidbury Road, Castle Hayne, NC 28429) You can also drop off supplies at the Lifepoint Church Midtown offices Medications Needed: Donated medication cannot expire within 9 months. This is a strict Haitian policy that is being enforced. These items can be purchased over the counter at any local drug store. Aspirin Tylenol Motrin Children’s and adult multi-vitamin Benadryl Neosporin or triple antibiotic Oral re-hydration salts Cough medications Medical Supplies Needed: These items can be purchased over the counter at any local drug store. Ace bandages Alcohol pads Band-aids Betadine wipes and sticks Gauzes – any size Gloves – all sizes, sterile/non-sterile Gowns – surgical and patient (head and shoe covers, goggles, masks) Pediatric supplies Tape – all types Thermometers Items from Doctor’s Offices Needed: These items can be purchased through a doctor or physicians’ office. Zantac (cannot expire within 9 months) Hypertension medications Blood pressure medications Blades – sterile only Needles – butterfly, angio catheter Compression stockings Dressings – sterile and un-sterile (Coban, Tegaderm, Steri-Strip, Surgilast) IV supplies – tubing in sterile packages only Scalpels Sponges – surgical only (includes X-ray detectable) Surgical towels – cloth/paper Sutures Syringes Tongue depressors 04. PREPARE FOR FUTURE RECOVERY AND REBUILDING It will take a long time for Haiti to recover. ROCK Church is determined to serving Haiti for a long time. We are already looking to adjust our missions plans for this year. We are researching sending teams to Haiti to help with recovery. Right now, there is not the opportunity to put teams on the ground. But, in the next 60-90 days, there will be many opportunities for teams to serve. Start praying now about going. If you feel it is something God wants for you, start getting ready now. We will link up with Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge, LA to send teams.
